We now have three wonderful restaurants in downtown Dunedin, but the story began with one small space, a big dream and a lot of hard work!
Back in 1991, during Dunedin's "Old Fashioned Christmas" event, Javier, our new baby Christian and I strolled past a "For Sale" sign in the window of a greasy spoon diner called "The Dunedin Grill".
Years of our blood, sweat, and tears transformed that small Dunedin diner into the thriving, unique and friendly downtown staple now known as Casa Tina's, which actually started out in the location where our Brick Oven Pizza Restaurant and Wine Bar, Pan y Vino is now standing.
After a huge renovation in the space next door to our original location, which included lots of authentic Mexican folk art added in and a big new kitchen where our guests can see their food being prepared, Casa Tina has become much more than a culinary destination.
Casa Tina has Fresh, Healthy, Authentic Mexican cuisine served by our family and our fabulous staff, as well as a commitment to social responsibility and our community with the Viva La Musica program which supports music in the schools.
Pan y Vino came next....We had the idea of creating delicious gourmet pizzas from fresh, local and mainly organic ingredients, and decided that a Brick Oven was the way to go! After opening up the back wall of the former Casa Tina and moving the huge and heavy oven by forklift, we constructed around it and created a warm and inviting space that is our Pan y Vino Restaurant. Our wine list is diverse and large, with a leaning toward Mediterranean wines. Pan y Vino means Bread and wine. We hope you will enjoy some delicious pizzas and wine with us.
Our most recent restaurant to open is Cabana Cafe and Gifts, located where the former Purple Moon was at 833 Douglas Avenue, a very short walk from Casa Tina and Pan y Vino. Serving panini, soups, salads, coffees and pastries, along with a full wine menu, Cabana offers the best in live acoustic music on the weekends and charming, original gifts inside.
